The first Springfit Invitational trampoline competition of 2018 took place at Moor House school in Oxted on 18th March and there were lots of motivated youngsters all vying to win medals in their categories.
From the entry level I to advanced level E, a great breadth of age and experience joined together to show the proud parents in attendance what they are capable of.
With many people competing for the first time, the friendly and laid-back atmosphere of the competition was reassuring to everyone involved, leading to many of the competitors achieving higher scores on their second routines after the nerves had quickly settled following the first round.
There were some highly ambitious youngsters taking to the apparatus, showing the judges great form and control to land the ten-bounce routine in front of almost 100 spectators. The scores showed how impressive the field was, with a tied second place finish for ten-year-old silver medalists Emilia and Amelie in the level I category.
Level H competitor Georgina from Springfit’s St Bede’s venue in Redhill had returned to try and beat her scores from previous competitions and did so with aplomb, taking the gold medal against some outstanding performances from others in her group. Eight-year-old Florence from the host’s Oakwood venue in Horley was also as proud as punch with her bronze medal after she showed supreme concentration and effort on her performance.
A special mention has to go to five-year-old Elliott who stumbled in his first routine but picked himself up and delivered a brave performance to land all the skills in the second round without any problems, winning the spectators hearts and the judges special Marie Manhire-Clark award for effort in competition. Elliott is pictured here as well as the level H group winners and all medal winners in a group.
Well done to everyone that took part and to all those who supported the talented children.
