Sixteen-year-old Amy Lee from Surrey was singled out from over SEVEN HUNDRED gymnasts to be awarded Springfit Gym Club’s coveted Fay Greene trophy for progress in gymnastics throughout 2020.
The Fay Greene Trophy is given out every year to the Springfit member whom coaches believe has made exceptional progress during the year. The gymnasts will have shown an outstanding level of dedication to their training and have a great relationship with both coaches and their fellow classmates.
All Head Coaches at the club decide who deserves the recognition after considering over 700 members who usually attend classes throughout Springfit’s seven local venues. This year they discussed various different attributes from involvement with the “Springfit Online” adaptation during lockdown periods to more recent attendance in classes.
The trophy was presented to the club back in 1998 by the parents of Fay Greene; a talented gymnast who was so enthusiastic about the sport that her family wanted her passion to live on through the club after Fay tragically passed away at an early age.
Amy participates in two classes a week, training with Head Coach Katie at Forgewood School and Coach Plamen at Oakwood Sports Centre in Horley. She is lauded by Plamen as someone who has “shown determination in every class she attends and demonstrates a great amount of respect to coaches when she is learning. She is also very proficient as an assistant coach. We see bright things in Amy’s future with the Club. Who knows, she might be one of our next Head Coaches!”
Well done to Amy and all the other worthy nominations from gymnastics classes at Springfit!
