We were pleased to welcome more children along to the most recent of our tri-annual Springfit Trampoline competitions, held on Sunday 7th July at Moor House School and College in Oxted. We had 25 individual entries across four age categories and 3 pairs of gymnasts performing synchronised entries – the most difficult of the lot! Competitors came from many different Springfit Clubs in addition to entrants Pointers Club and Epsom Gymnastics and Trampoline Club.
The children who took part did so with great focus and determination, and their friends and family spectating in the audience helped ensure they enjoyed the event and offered tremendous support throughout. Thank you to our Springfit family – we couldn’t do this event without your enthusiasm and support!
The highest score of the competition was achieved by 12-year-old Molly Neave with an impressive 17.90 which earned her a well deserved 1st place on the podium for the Level G category. We love that many families have two children participating in the sport, and there were a lot of friendly sibling rivalries performing impressively, including the Coopers, the Murphy’s and the Kincaid family. All of these children had a very successful competition. The Murphy’s and the Kincaid’s entered the synchronised event, demonstrating great control and timing with scores of 15.15 and 14.15 respectively, just being topped by Morgan and Molly who achieved a fabulous 15.40 gaining them 1st place on the podium. The Cooper family also came away with Abigail (12) achieving 1st place and Bella (5) 3rd place in their categories.
Another highlight of this summer’s Springfit trampoline competition was when the Marie Manhire-Clark trophy for effort was awarded. The Judges present this prestigious trophy to the competitor that they believe has demonstrated bravery, overcome difficulties or challenges and persevered to continue on with their performance. There was a very deserving winner this year with Sampson, who is just 8 years old, showing confidence in his first routine but became disappointed that he didn’t execute the moves to his own high standards. With a little persuasion from his supportive family he came back with courage for the final routine and performed with great composure to rapturous applause from the spectators. Well done Sampson, you should be very proud of yourself.
