We held class displays for the parents of each of our nineteen ability-based gymnastics classes last week. All members performed routines and demonstrated impressive gymnastics moves on various apparatus to show what they have learnt in the six months since the last displays.
The coaches chose one member of every single class to receive a gold medal for the person who they deemed to have shown the most progress. The award is a bi-annual tradition designed to reward the gymnast who regularly turns up to class with an attitude that brings effort and enthusiasm to their gymnastics training and enjoys the benefits of improvement in their skills as a result of that.
The weekly classes host many energetic and eager children who are keen to perform to the best of their ability, and this makes the decision very hard for the instructors to single out any one particular winner. In many cases the club needs to present certificates and badges to runners-up or even the whole class!
To the grateful parents in attendance though, improvements in co-ordination and balance are clearly noticeable, and the increased strength and flexibility their children demonstrate is evidence enough that the sport of gymnastics is clearly one that will benefit them in all walks of life.
Many parents herald the classes as important parts of each of the children’s lives. Those who struggle at first quickly warm up to the friendly environment, and the smiles observed at Springfit parent sessions just go to further enhance the experience that weekly classes give to their precious superstars.
The club is pleased to put on these displays as a way of helping children get used to performing for an audience, which can help prepare them for Springfit’s fun local competitions run throughout the year. It also provides parents with a great sense of pride at watching them enjoy their sport and understanding how the coaches get such good results. Lots of Mums and Dads have even gotten involved themselves, joining in one of Springfit’s nine adult classes!
The Springfit team would like to shout a big ‘Well Done!’ to all nineteen gymnasts listed below, who achieved this medal on their fantastic progress throughout the last six months. Pictured here are all the October progress medal winners at Springfit:
