Everyone at Springfit would love to congratulate 11 year old Ethan Kemp on being awarded the Fay Greene trophy for effort in gymnastics for 2019.
All Head Coaches at the club decide who deserves the recognition afer considering over 700 members who attend at 56 different classes throughout Springfit’s 10 venues. They discuss the various levels of dedication, achievement, competition, attitude and performance amongst other important skills that children demonstrate through participating in this hugely beneficial sport.
The trophy was presented to the club back in 1998 by the parents of Fay Greene; a talented gymnast who was so enthusiastic about the sport that her family wanted her passion to live on through the club after Fay tragically passed away at an early age. The worthy winner this year was decidedly Ethan who at the age of 5 was doing cartwheels and attempting backflips at home. Having trained atvarious Clubs, Ethan has built on this enthusiasm and brings a high level of energy to his Thursday classes at Springfit Horley, showing constant determination and dedication in class.
Ethan trains with both Head Coaches Alex and Plamen at Oakwood Sports Centre in Horley, and has been lauded by Plamen as “definitely someone that other gymnasts are looking up to, who clearly enjoys what he is doing and has a high potential to become a very good coach. He is determined, well behaved, very keen on doing gymnastics and competing. He also got a medal from the beam competition which isn’t a male discipline but that just shows his level of motivation. I know other coaches who had taught him are also very happy with his performance. Recently he started volunteering in the boys class and he is doing amazingly well! He picks up different coaching techniques very quickly as well as being confident in supporting moves and taking the lead by himself.”
This has also been seconded by many of our other coaches who add that they have “heard great things about his coaching ability as a volunteer” so it’s lovely that he’s being recognised by others too! Truly a well-deserved award for someone who shows a huge passion for the sport.
Ethan’s parents were in attendance when Club Manager Adam Reynolds presented the trophy in front of all his peers. They were so pleased to see the recognition for all his efforts and said “Needless to say, we are so pleased both the kids are back at Springfit, it’s such a great Club, fantastic location and thank you for giving both the kids an opportunity to build their skillset, confidence and core strength in this area.”
Well done to Ethan and all the other worthy nominations from gymnastics classes at Springfit!
