3D Secure V2 is here… but what is it?
You may have seen in the news lately that there is an extra layer of security coming into effect for your safety when spending money online.
The 3-D Secure is an additional verification from your card supplier and bank to confirm that it is YOU actually putting the transaction through.
2-Factor Authentication will now involve you being asked for 2 of 3 pieces of information.
*We have noticed there may be some potential issues with setting up NEW subscriptions using MasterCard bank cards, so recommend using a Visa card for the time being!*

How does 2-Factor Authentication work?
- Something you are – such as a fingerprint or facial recognition
- Something you have – such as a physical mobile phone
- Something you know – such as a password or unique code
This is likely to be in the form of a One-Time Use Code from your bank via SMS for you to enter into an authentication box or a request for a password to confirm that it is YOU!
‘Wallets’ such as Apple Pay and Google Pay already include 2-Factor Authentication so these payment methods will be unaffected in everyday life!
How does this affect your Springfit Membership?
We are hoping that the impact to your monthly subscriptions will be minimal and that they will continue to run as normal, however, you may find that over the next few months as things come into effect, your monthly subscription may stall due to the 3D-Secure checks happening. This would be instead of the other reasons a payment can stall, such as the card expiring, being blocked due to being lost or stolen, or insufficient funds available to process the payment. All you need to do in that instance is update your card details and follow any verification that it is YOU!

What are Banks, Providers and the Government saying?
