“Mental health is defined as a state of wellbeing in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to contribute to his or her community” – World Health Organisation 2014
During May the theme of the month was kindness. From 18th – 24th May the Mental Health Foundation hosted Mental Health Awareness Week. This is a time that we have all taken to reflect and adapt our knowledge on mental health awareness.
We must always take the time to support those around us and our team of amazing coaches are absolutely no different.
All of our lovely Springfit Coaches observed Mental Health Awareness Week and we had many of them enrolled on to the Mental Health Awareness for Sport and Physical Activity Course in association with Mind charity.
The course helped them to gain the confidence to be able to support people experiencing mental health problems, and help them to thrive within and outside of sessions.
From this course here are some of the things our coaches have to say:
“It was really useful to learn how to adapt our classes to be even more suited to all.”
“I have come away from that course having learnt more than just one new thing.”
“I am more confident speaking about mental health now, I have more understanding of it all.”
