On Sunday 17th November Springfit held their final competition of the calendar year – a Floor & Vault Gymnastics Competition. An amazing turnout of over 120 gymnasts participated, hailing from various local Springfit Clubs plus some from further afield such as Pointers and EGTC Clubs. Huge congratulations are in order to all those who participated and the organisers would like to extend their thanks to all the staff and helpers who helped make the day such a success for all the children, as well as friends and family that cheered the gymnasts on from the spectators area.
Gymnasts aged from 5 to 16 were invited to perform one choreographed floor routine and one vault pass. The scores were then combined together to give a placing in every grade.
The highest score of the day was an amazing 18.25 out of 20, achieved by Sophie Day aged 11. There were also some incredibly positive results for many other gymnasts, including Katie Vaughan (15 years old) who achieved a score of 17.65 in the very difficult grade 7 category. This is a score which will take some beating in future!
In addition to the top three placings, an addition Gold medal was handed out. The Charlie Clifton Award for Effort In Competiton is given out to a single competitor who the judges feel have displayed great determination and effort. The Clifton Award was given to Elliot Hall (7 years old) in the first half of the day and to Roxy Cole (8 years old) in the second half of the day. Well done to both children who overcame their nerves to put on a brave display in front of over 150 spectators and showed a lot of determination!
All Judges and spectators were blown away with the high level of performances throughout the day. It is always great to see such high levels of support being shown to gymnasts and a wonderful team spirit experienced by all who attended. The competition was a huge success and we hope that every gymnast and spectator enjoyed it as much as we did!
Once again, huge congratulations to all competitors! We look forward to seeing even more amazing skills and performances in the next competition!
