Local gym club Springfit held their first invitational gymnastics competition on Sunday 20th June. The club invited other recreational athletes to their venue at Oakwood Sports Centre, Horley to display trampette jumps and perform beam routines. Those deemed the best by a panel of judges were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals in a variety of categories based on age and training hours.
The competition is another step forward for the popular club who have just opened new branches in St Bedes, Redhill and Manorfield school, Horley, to much acclaim.
Spectators were impressed with the standard of ability on both apparatus, as nearly 100 proud parents enjoyed seeing children performing twisting somersaults and showing off technical beam moves. Head judge Adam Reynolds said “the beam is a very difficult piece of equipment to perform on, and each gymnasts did fantastically well in front of the audience for their first time trying this. They are all beaming!”
