British Gymnastics Gymnastics Coach (Level 3)

Every time I go trampolining I feel younger! I never feel the need to work out down the gym or go out running, as my involvement in coaching gymnastics has helped me feel a lot fitter and stronger. I have greater co-ordination and range of movement through my involvement in these sports. I hope to pass on the same benefits to everyone I teach, and show them how much can be achieved when you put your mind to it.
Whether coaching gymnastics or trampolining, I like to ensure everyone enjoys themselves first and foremost. Sport should always be fun, and I constantly work with my coaches to try and achieve the best possible atmosphere for members, while helping develop the club and future coaches.
The environment at Springfit is so much fun, it doesn’t even feel like work a lot of the time. I am especially proud of my adult trampoline classes, which has constantly evolved and allowed many parents to reach fantastic achievements they never thought they could. Our ethos has certainly helped inspire other adults to take up more fun activities for fitness.
Coaching pre-school classes is always a lot of fun too, as the younger children bring so much enthusiasm and entertainment to my day. You can really see some surprising feats of strength in children as young as 3 years old. I look forward to predicting who might make it into our Elite squad from those classes in years to come.
Getting to know Adam:
What does your perfect day look like?
The short answer is a full day on the Alps with my snowboard and ipod, or kitesurfing in the Caribbean followed by cocktails. A more realistic day would start with a hike up a great hill over the South Downs on a misty dawn morning with my paragliding wing strapped to my back, followed by a few hours circling my beloved City of Brighton riding thermals. Then a hearty lunch in a country pub. I’d walk our dog, Mojo, then teach some of my favourite classes trampolining on a weekday, or go to see Crystal Palace at the weekend. The evening would consist of drinks with friends or a Muse concert in a tiny venue.
Where do you most want to travel, but have never been?
That would have to be New Zealand. I can see myself retiring there, doing a bungee jump at 80yrs old.
What animal best represents you and why?
I’d have to say an Eagle, not only because of the connotations with my favourite football team, but because I love flying. Kitesurfing and paragliding are two of may favourite hobbies.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I think sausage and mash because you could have a bit of variation with it. There is a pub in Brighton which serves about fifty different combinations of various sausage and mash types. A past favourite of mine!
If you could be a Superhero which one would you be and why??
I think it would have to be Batman because of his moralistic views and all the gadgets! Plus his costume is the best and he gets to drive awesome cars. I’m a bit of a geek at heart and love all the tech that Batman uses.
