Last Saturday was the final Springfit Trampoline Competition of 2016 and there was an amazing turnout with over 70 trampolinists from 6 different clubs taking part. We would like to thank everyone that turned up to support their trampolinists as well the coaches, judges and spotters from all of the clubs – without you all there would not a competition!
The first half kicked off with the Grade I trampolinists. In the first three categories the medals were dominated by trampolinists from NMBEC, High Vaultage and Surbition High School.
The first Springfit medal came in the 9 year category with a Bronze for Maddie Austin who is coached by our Club Manager Adam on a Saturday at Oakwood Sports Centre.
Next completing a routine full of seat drops, front landings, twist jumps and tucks were the competitors aged 8 and younger and for many of the competitors in this section it was their first competition but they all did a fantastic job keeping control of any nerves. It was fantastic to see 7 year old Phoenix Hogan finally take a GOLD medal in a trampoline competition with a fantastic score of 15.47 and 8 year old Henri Kola take Silver with 15.07. Both Phoenix and Henri train at Oakwood with Adam and Head Coach Emma. Another Springfit winner is this category was Emily Hamilton who was awarded the Marie Manhire-Clark Trophy for Effort who put on fantastic display in her first competition and overcame nerves (sadly her coach Alex was unable to attend due to illness to support her) to put into two solid displays.
To mix it up it was decided to put the highest Grade (E) in the first half of the competition to allow some of the lesser experienced trampolinists see what they can achieve if they keep training. Jazmine Hogan produced two solid routines to take Gold in a very close category over Bea Torre from Anti-Gravity. The girls put on a dazzling display of somersaults, baranis and jumps with twists.
After a short break and a warm-up session for our second half competitors we moved onto the Grade H, G and F. In the first category were our Grade H 11-15 year olds – Springfit’s Sophie-Louise Naylor missed out on the Bronze medal by only 0.03 points and not fair behind Nina Cronin and Lily Woolsey were in joint 6th place. Next up was the those Grade H trampolinists aged 10 years and under and we are so pleased that Oakwood Eva Zielke took Bronze in this category and only narrowly missed the Silver medal by 0.07 points.
We then moved onto Grade G and in the older age category 12 year old Harrison Freear took Bronze and Elise Allenyne was awarded the Marie Manhire-Clark award for effort as she put in a sterling display after having to make a last minute change to her voluntary routine. The final Springfit medals of the day came in the Synchro section where Scarlett Shepherd and Jazmine Hogan (Grade E) , who train together in our Elite Trampoline Squad at St Bedes with Club Manager Adam, took Silver and Sophie-Louise Naylor and Lily Woolsey (Grade H) took Bronze. The second half of the competition also saw another set of Gold medal winning sisters – Emily and Chloe Davey from Anti-Gravity took the winning place on the podium in the Grade H and F respectively. Again we would like to congratulate everyone that took part and thank everyone who helped make this event such a resounding success. We can not wait till the next competition in March 2017.
